Striker Luuk de Jong 'to leave' FC Porto at the end of the season

The news was reported by Portuguese outlet zerozero, which explained that the player's decision is due to serious family issues, prompting the striker to return to the Netherlands.

Although his contract ends at the close of the current season, Luuk de Jong and FC Porto had the option to extend the deal for another year, but the decision has been made and the 35-year-old forward is preparing to return to Eindhoven.

Luuk de Jong is still recovering from surgery he underwent in December after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, so he will not play for FC Porto again.

Just a few months away from turning 36, Luuk de Jong made only seven appearances and scored one goal for the Dragões.

Interestingly, despite limited playing time in a season marked by two serious injuries, the Dutchman played a key role in FC Porto's title run, as his goal secured a 2-1 win in the Clássico against Sporting in round 4 of the Primeira Liga.
